Architectural Structures Features Comparison
The ancient Greece architecture is said to be the architecture shaped by the Greek talking people (Hellenic people) as their cultural thrived on the Greek mainland and some parts of Asia minor and Italy dating back from the period about 900BC until the beginner century AD with the earliest remaining architectural works dating from around 600BC according to the Greek architectural history documentation.
Ancient Greece architecture is well known for its temple structures mostly found throughout the region, mainly as ruins but many considerably intact. Ancient Greek architecture is identified by its distinct features based on structure and decorations. The Greek structures especially the temples were mostly built on a raised ground on an elegant position where light on its surface could be viewed from all angles creating a lively look for all to see fro all directions. In addition the temple structures appeared to have been conceived as a sculptural entity within the landscape.
The use of pillar supported building is one of the features found in the ancient Greek structures that has been adopted by Villa Savoye is according to the modern Le Corbusier Villa Savoye (1928-1930 C.E) Page 103. Furthermore the temple like structure design built on an elevated or high ground for purposes of elegance of its proportions and the effects of light on its surfaces to be viewed from all angles has also been adopted on the modern Villa structure. Sculptural designs have also been adopted as a decorational feature both on the posts and also on the upper limit tops.
The designs of architecture have been changing to modern styles, but ancient adopted features designs. One example is the use of pillars which were used in ancient Greeks structures is still used up to date. Furthermore use of arch shape design adopted from the ancient Egyptian pyramids, has been used in building some structures such as bridges in Europe as well as other parts of the world.
