Introduction
The Berlin Olympic game was held in 1936 in Berlin. Many countries and players participated in the game. Jesse Owen broke several records during the Berlin Olympic Games. Most people consider him the best player in the world. Several factors affected the Berlin Olympic Games. For example, discrimination, racism affected players in the country. People in the country discriminated minority payers. This influenced minority players in the country. Berlin won the bid to host Berlin Olympic Games and this resulted to conflicts. Another factors was the national anthem. This paper analyzes the Berlin Olympic Games and Jesse Owen.
Berlin Olympic games and Jesse Owens
The 1936 Olympic game also known as the games of XI Olympiad was a worldwide multi sport activity. The event was held in 1936 and it attracted various countries from different parts of the world. The event was held in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. Many countries were interested to host the game, but Berlin won the bid to host the Olympic Games. Other countries like Barcelona nd Spain lost the bid. The international committee hosted the games in Berlin and it was happy that it was the second the committee would host the game in the country. The committee had previously hosted games in other countries like Paris. The Olympics game was handed to Berlin before the Nazi came to power. People had different views on the games. Some thought that other countries were more able to host the Olympic game than Berlin while others thought Berlin was the best (Large, 2007).
Hitler had a heard time to demonstrate to other countries in the world, how Nazi Germany was able to perform better than other countries which were competiting for the bid. Hitler had to identify every opportunity to make the game successful in terms of provision of services and other activities. This was to make Germany a powerful country than Barcelona or Spain (Large, 2007).
In addition, Nazi had to prove to the world that it could perform better than other countries. The Berlin Olympic game had a lot of benefits to Nazi as it was able to show how it could perform better than other countries to more than 49 countries. Some people argue that the Berlin Olympic game helped the country become famous and develop (Large, 2007).
Most people opposed the Berlin Olympic game held in Berlin. They argued that the country was not able to host the Olympic Games and this resulted to conflicts. The conflicts came after the German nationalist socialist was elected in 1933. During this time most people fought hard to move the games from Berlin to other locations that were politically acceptable. People had different opinion on the issue. Some thought Berlin was a better place to hold the Olympic Games while others thought the committee need to look for a better place. The opponents thought that the committee should not integrate politics and games. They argued that politics would interfere with Berlin Olympic Games and make the games ineffective. The IOC met to find a solution to the conflict. The committee decided to allow Berlin to host the Olympic Games because it had won the bid. The committee did not want politics to affect the outcome of the game (Large, 2007).
Hitler’s Germany had to make clarifications to the IOC about Germany racial policies. Hitler thought that this would make the country able to accommodate people from different parts of the world. The country was not able to support multiculturalism before. This made it difficulty for the country to host the games. As a result of the racial policies, Hitler had to clarify the issues so as to enable people from all over the world to participate in the games (Large, 2007).
During this time, Germany allowed the Jewish residents in the country to participate in the Olympic Games. The citizens were allowed to join the Germany Olympic game. The citizens had been excluded before because of racial policies used in the country (Large, 2007).
Many countries planned to hold alterative Olympic Games, but they were not successful. For example, in 1935 the Jewish planned to hold a Jewish Olympic game. Most countries did not want to attend the Berlin Olympic Games as the countries wanted to hold alternative Olympic Games. Countries like Barcelona, Czechoslovakians held Olympic Games and they had different impacts on the citizens. The Barcelona Olympic game was successful as many people attended the game. People came from different countries and many organizations attended the games. Also, communists and socialists participated in the games. Though, many people attended the games, the players were independent. They had to cater for transport costs (Large, 2007).
Countries like Czechoslovakians felt very uncomfortable about the Berlin game. The country stated that it would not send its team to Germany for the Berlin Olympic Games. Other countries that resisted at first to send their teams to Germany were Swedes, Yugoslavia and South American nations. Though the countries planned not to send a team to Berlin Olympics in Germany, the countries later send the teams. Other countries like French and Great Britain had decided not to send teams to Germany, but they later changed their decisions (Large, 2007).
Despite the political issues, very few countries boycotted the Berlin Olympic Games. Most countries send their teams to the Berlin Olympic Games. Countries like Japan, Great Britain, America and Germany attended the Olympic game. The racial policies in the country had hindered minority groups from participating in any competition. The government had to review the laws so as to make it easy for minority groups to participate in the games. The country had various minority groups like the Jewish, African American (Large, 2007).
Berlin Olympic Games were organized well to avoid any conflicts. This made it easy for minority players to participate in the Olympic Games. For example, minority players like Jesse Owen benefited a lot from the Berlin Olympic game (Large, 2007).
Another problem that affected the Berlin Olympic Games was the national anthem. Germany differed with other countries during the opening ceremony. This is because the country did not adopt a new anthem for the occasion. Hitler had met with the committee before to identify a new anthem. Germany was able to convince the IOC to develop a new national anthem. In 1933, the committee selected Bradley keeler’s music as the national anthem. People had different views on the issue. Some thought that Germany was free to use its own anthem, but not develop a news anthem. For example, Dr. Lewld argued that the country could use its national anthem. The committee agreed to allow the country to use the anthem. The propaganda spread in the country influenced the Olympic Games. Government officials from the country issued propagandas on minority groups. This made it difficulty for people from other countries to trust Germany citizens. Hence, this influenced the Berlin Olympic Games (Large, 2007).
Germany performed better than other countries in the Berlin Olympic Games. The players won various prizes like gold medals in wrestling classes. Jesse Owens performed well in the Berlin Olympic Games. Jesse Owens was a track and field athlete. Jesse was born 12th September 1913.He was the seventh born in the family. Jesse Owens attended OhioUniversity. Jesse Owens won various records while in the university. He won the NCCA championship in 1935 and 1936. Jesse Owens enjoyed athletics and joined other African Americans in athletic activities. He faced segregation like other minorities. Owens won the big ten in 1935 in Michigan. He performed well and won three world records. He won various records in 100 yards and sprinting addition, Jesse Owens won the world’s record in long jump (Large, 2007)
He participated in the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936. Jesse Owens became famous during the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936. Owens arrived in Berlin in 1936 to compete for US in the Berlin Olympic Games. Owens and other minority employees faced discrimination and racism. Hitler and other government officials in the country discriminated minority players’ country. They encouraged players from superior countries to compete in the Berlin Olympic Games. This made it difficulty for Owens and other minority players to participate in the game. Despite the discrimination and racist in the country, Jesse Owens performed well (Large, 2007).
Jesse Owens performed excellently during the Olympic Games. Though, Owens was inferior he won four medals in the 100m and 200m. In addition, Owens performed well in long jump and 4*100m relay. He broke 11 Olympic records and defeated Lutz Lang in the game. Other minority players won various prizes in the Berlin Olympic Games like silvers, gold medals and bronze. During the Berlin Olympic Games Jesse Owens won 100m spring and defeated Ralph Metcalfe. On august 4, Jesse Owen won the long jump and defeated Lutz long (Large, 2007).
Conclusion

This made it difficulty to prepare for the Olympic Games. The committee hosting the Olympic Games was happy with the results and supported Berlin in hosting the Olympic Games. Most people convinced the committee to change the venue, but the commit maintained that the game was to be held in Berlin.
Also, people in Germany had different views on the games. Some thought that the games should be hosted in a different location. They argued that Berlin was not the best place to host the Olympic Games. The committee did not shift the location because of political problems. They claimed that politics in the country could interfere with the Berlin Olympic Games and make them ineffective. Thus, the committee chose Berlin as the location to host the Berlin Olympic Games. The challenges affected preparations and participation of different countries. Different countries tried to establish alternative Olympic Games and not send players to Berlin Olympic Games. For example, Barcelona, Yugoslavia, Great Britain decided not to send players to Berlin Olympic Games. This is because the countries did not want Berlin to host the Olympic Games. The national anthem was a major issue in the Berlin Olympic Games. Germany decided not to develop a new anthem, but to use its own anthem in the Olympic Games. Countries did not support the idea and this resulted to conflicts during the opening ceremony.
