Class Struggle

‘The communist manifest’ is book written by Karl max and Friederich Engel’s. The author has presented class struggle in his book. He has also analyzed communism and capitalism in his work. In part one of the book, the authors argues that the hitherto existing society represents the history of class struggle. This is shown by the comment below “…the history of all hitherto existing societies is the history of class struggle…”. P 7This is evidenced by various things that were common in the society during that time. For example, it is evidenced by the oppression of people in the society.

The opposition between the oppressor and oppressed shows class struggle as shown by the following quotation

“…An oppressed class under the way of the feudal nobility…” p 8. The oppressor and the oppressed do not agree with each other and were always in constant opposition. In addition, the struggle between different classes in the society is evidenced by the opposition between freeman and slave. It is also shown by the lord and serf.

Moreover, the authors claim that the class struggle under capitalism involves the ruling class and the working class. That is the Bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The ruling class in the society owns all the means of production while the working class does not.

In addition, the ruling class in the society exploits the working class through manual labour and cheap wages. The ruling class depends on the working class for cheap labor. Also, they depend on the working class to make profits. On the other hand, the working class does not benefit from the bourgeois. The working class rises to power via class struggle. For example, the working class uses revolutions against the ruling class to rise to power. For instance, they use riots and develop unions to help them overcome the ruling class. Capitalism in the society will be overthrown by the working class and lead to communism and hence equality in the society (Marx &Engels 2008).

I agree with the idea presented by the authors. This is because the society is made up of different groups. The differences between these groups have led to class struggle. For instance, the rich and the poor struggle in the society. The rich or the ruling class have more wealth than the poor and try to misuse them. Capitalism in the society has resulted to struggle between different classes like the rich and the poor. This has in turn led to oppression and increased the gap between the bourgeoisie and the working class. The working class in the society has devised various strategies that help low people in the society overcome the rich. It is true poor people in the society use riots and unions to overcome the rich (Marx &Engels 2008).

The solution to the class struggle in the society is communism. Communism will help bring equality in the society. This will eliminate class struggle between the ruling class and the working class. The rich will not use the poor as a source of cheap labor and hence oppress them. This is because the rich and the poor will have equal rights in terms of acquiring property. The rich and the poor will have equal political rights and social rights (Marx &Engels 2008).
