Comparing and contrasting the reading and the interview

The reading lays more emphasis on quality management as encompassing various aspects such as epidemiology, health care economics, medical ethics, population medicine, medical informatics and environmental health. Therefore, quality management of health care services is only achieved after ensuring that the entire items are provided at the right time in the most appropriate level. Health care providers will then conclude that they have been able to be practicing quality management of health care services (Ilango, 2010). On the other hand, the interview provided a slightly different perspective of quality management which entails improving the facilities and products being provided by the health industry.

Such improvements are aimed at meeting the demands of various clients who are dependent on the services and goods being produced by the company (Block, 2006).However, the most significant objective of improving the facilities as well as provision of various features which are needed by clients is aimed at improving the health and well being of clients. This increases efficiency of the health care sector as different dimensions of improvement are employed to ensure that the end user benefits maximally from the effort. Therefore, the end result is the same for both sides although the procedure involved in achieving them is different (Ilango, 2010).From the interview notes, it is quite clear that the nature of relationship that exists between health care providers and the recipients are fundamental to presence of quality management services.

Similarly, by ensuring that the clients are more informed of health aspects affecting them make it even easier to execute quality management in all dimensions of providing efficient services and products. This leads to promotion of community well being as well as maintaining the reputation of the industry. The reading lays more emphasis on humanity values being upheld by providers of health care as an aspect of quality management. This entails incorporating the patients or community in maintaining their own health by adopting healthy lifestyles. Similarly, the clients are asked to participate in prevention of minor infections as well as involvement in health awareness campaigns which provide more efficient access to their well being. Quality management of health care systems ensures that the value of human life and health are prioritized by making sure that all affected parties play key roles in realizing that quality management is achieved (Block, 2006).

Clear communication between either party in health care management as well as laying more emphasis on long-term commitments towards attainment of personal as well as communal goals are fundamental in quality management. Clear communication calls for inclusion of the clients in their own health life through provision of adequate information on the issues which may be affecting them (Ilango, 2010). This calls for occasional sessions in which the health care providers organize forums where individuals who posses’ similar problems get to interact with each other in the presence of health professionals such that they are able to learn more about their condition. Clients should be encouraged to embrace and adapt healthy lifestyles which will determine their commitment to stay healthy in addition to supporting the healthcare providers improve the quality of life.

Such commitments create avenues for improved provision of health care services while at the same time they are sources of motivation which is part and parcel of quality management (Block, 2006).Both sources indicate that team work and cooperation among various members in the health care as well as incorporation of client commitment is substantial in attainment of positive outcomes. This is because health care is a diverse field encompassing various dimensions in addition to the recipients otherwise called patients. Therefore, quality management entails working together to achieve positive results as well as making the services being provided effective. Similarly, clients should be part of these teams as they are critical in attainment of quality management without cooperation from the clients side, health care outcomes may be out flawed especially where they are active participants.

An example of active participation is health promotion campaigns and other health care programs involving adoption of new health patterns by the community (Ilango, 2010). Failure to participate and develop some degree of commitment may cost so much to the attainment of quality management. Similarly, these teams may result in formation of therapeutic relationships between the patients and health care providers thus ensuring that the patient is reassured of receiving quality care which contributes to well being (Block, 2006).  Quality management is dependent on application of relevant strategies which are aimed at improving the quality of services and products being offered by health care providers. Consequently, adoption of appropriate management principles which are applicable in quite a number of fields are fundamental in attaining quality management in the health care sector (Ilango, 2010).
