How to create images of paintings in viwers minds.

Painting is considered to be one of the artistic expressions (Siqueiros 1997). Painting is widely accepted and it used to represent ideas and images in two dimensional. Painting uses color, paint and other types of medium that acts as the base support (Siqueiros 1997). Painting has become a common means of communication. People in olden days used painting to express ideas and images (Siqueiros 1997). People use language to help the reader understand the painting or build the picture of the painting. The main painting that will be used in this paper is David Alfaro Sequiro’s “mother and child” (Deco paint on amazonite, 1956).This paper analyzes the painting to help the viewer understand it (Siqueiros 1997). The thesis statement in the paper is using effective descriptions to create the image of the paintings in viewers mind (Siqueiros 1997). The paper uses descriptions like color, light and emotions to help the viewer understand the painting more. The prepositions used include on, in, above, below, outside, between, beneath, among, inside and throughout (Siqueiros 1997).

The mother and child painting was developed by Alfaro (Siqueiros 1997). The painting is done on an amazonite support base (Siqueiros 1997). The painter placed the painting on an amazonite base to provide base on the picture. The picture depicts a mother who is cuddling a young child. The painting was developed in 1956 (Siqueiros 1997).The author developed the painting to illustrate the theme of child and mother. The painting shows the role of mothers in the society. The main point of interest in the picture is the baby that is being cuddled by the mother (Siqueiros 1997). The author has used different types of colors to develop the painting. He has combined the colors used in the painting well so as to attract the attention of the viewer (Siqueiros 1997). The painting is well balanced as the author has developed the mother well and placed the child in the right position. The child is placed inside the mother’s arms, but on the left side. The mother is placed above the child. The author has reinforced the focus of the mother on the child (Siqueiros 1997). The mothers face is placed above the child, but strictly looking at the child.

The mother in the painting shows a lowered gaze on the child. The shapes used in the paintings are well balanced (Annarella 2004). The colors used create different contrasts in the foreground and background. The designer has used bright colors in the foreground and dark colors in the background. This is to make it easy for the audience to see the picture. The author has used light blue to paint the covering of the mother (Annarella 2004). In addition, he has used light brown color to paint the mother in the face and black color to show the covering on the head (Annarella 2004). The painter has used brown color to paint the child. The child is looking at the mothers face and light illuminates her face. Thus, the viewer sees the child placed beneath the mother’s face. The colors used create a different contrast between the mother and the Child (Annarella 2004).

Thus, they make the child the centre of attraction. The lighting used in the painting is good and it is located inside and outside (Annarella 2004). The author has placed the lighting in picture in a central position so as to make the picture attractive (Annarella 2004). The author has balanced the lighting between the mother and child so as to create balance between the shapes. The lighting in the picture is located above the mother. The painter has used bright colors on the head covering of the mother. The painter has mixed light blue color and white shadows to create lighting on the painting (Annarella 2004). The painter has also used lighting outside the mother’s covering. The lighting is also shown on the baby face. The baby face is much brighter than other parts. The lighting used on the two paintings illuminates the painting such that the audiences focus on the child painting (Annarella 2004).

The painting shows a strong sense of motherhood (Annarella 2004). It appreciates the roles mothers play. The mother in the painting shows how she loves the child by cuddling her closely and protecting her from any harm (Annarella 2004). On my side the paintings are more important in the society as they strengthen the role of mothers in the society (Annarella 2004).  The painting shows the painter’s interest in mothers and child. The author appreciates the role mothers play in the society like taking care of young ones among other roles played by mothers (Annarella 2004). Thus, the author has used color, light and other elements to communicate the message to the society. The picture depicts motherly love and care mothers offer to young babies. It is a sign of mother’s love to a child. Hence, the painter appreciates the roles mothers play throughout the painting (Annarella 2004).
