Dialogue between Denny and Ronny
“Am always tired after six hours of reading” Denny stated carefully. Denny further stated” But, today was different as I was not tired” (Ronny listened carefully while maintaining eye contact with Denny).
”How is that?” Ronny asked curiously.
- replied ”I had an idea of developing a poem, but I did not write it because I had no right skills ,so I did not get tired.”
“I though that it would be difficulty to write the poem and it would not make any sense”.
Ronny replied” you could have tried writing the poem first to establish whether you have the right skills” (Denny listened carefully as Ronny spoke).
Denny” I was totally blank and I could not manage to write the poem”
Ronny” Though I do not have the necessary writing skills, I have tried to write my own poem” (Woods &Duck, 2005).
Ronny surprised replied” weren’t you claiming the other day that you are talented in writing poems”.
Denny listened while seated silent that am not talented, but I do not know the steps to follow when writing a poem”.
“Probably I will do better if I get some assistance”.
“Just tell me what you wrote in your poem and I will tell you what is about”
Ronny” Am not talented in writing poems and do think it will impress you”
“Mine is a short story, but not exactly a poem”
After getting the poem, Denny started interpreting the story Ronny had written while Ronny listened carefully. Ronny asked questions after Denny finished giving the explanation. “The story is as follows: There is an astronomer who studies the space; the astronomer looks through the telescope one day and sees the planet, starts etc, but he is not sure what it is. The astronomer sees the sky to be beautiful, but he cannot explain it.
Ronny” that is basically what is I wrote.” I would have written it more detailed if I ha the right knowledge too”
“I told you that you wont get impressed, I can see it on your face”
Denny replied”No, the story is ok, it is not bad”
“Do you know what your story was about?”
“Your story was one of your romantic themes.”
“Its clear that the star in the poem represents the Girl or ?”
Ronny” Not really, I was just practicing writing poems”
Ronny” I like writing poems, but I do not get the chance to develop my talent, there are no enough resources and I do not have the right experience”
Ronny” That is it”
Denny “Ok”
Ronny” if you want to write poems well; one should be creative and imaginative. For example, I imagined how an astronomer uses the telescope to study the sky and how lack of knowledge affects his effort”
“The astronomer is not able to explain what he sees as he does not have enough knowledge”.
Denny “That’s good, so I should be creative so as to write my poem”.
Ronny”Yah”
Ronny” Lack of knowledge and skills affects us like the astronomer as we are not able to write quality poems” (West &Turner, 2008).
