Experience in the Teaching Profession

Having worked as a teacher and a headmaster for more than 9 years, I strongly believe I have enough experience in teaching profession. This is what drove me to take this study simply because I have worked as a teacher and I know the challenges that teachers undergo when they are exercising their duties. With the experience, that I got when I was teaching, it’s a clear indication that performance of the student is affected by so many things.

One perceived perception by most students is that mathematics is difficult though very engaging as I learnt from high school. Nevertheless, my mathematics teacher then had reliable classroom management and did not despise students’ answers or scold them for failure to write or submit his assignments like some teachers who shouted or referred them to administration. Conversely, the chemistry teacher issued random handouts over the term, and mocked students.

Six years later, I worked as an elementary school mathematics teacher and made sure that favorable learning environment prevailed. My experience in intermediate school assisted me to handle students to improve their performance. Students are affected by teachers, classmates, and environment.

For four years working as a headmaster for both elementary and intermediate school, I learnt from fellow teachers on the direct relationship between teacher preparation and student understanding. For instance, the teachers who supplied pupils with clear tasks, goals, and requirement and informed them of the topic’s progress, promoted high performance.  Additionally, urging students to cerebrate, practice and reinforcing them enhanced their performance and equally so was the practice of encouraging students involvement through issue resolving, queries, and debate.

Conversely, failed preparation without a clear plan, knowledge, leadership qualities, and overlooking individual differences among students had poor performance as proved from a random survey I conducted on fellow teachers who despite hard work, lacked of proper preparation hence poor performance. I choose this study simply because what I have is enough and useful to many who want to change the performance of their students.
