Where to find grant money in the government and private sector
In United States, grants come from wide range of government departments (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The grants come from wide range of public and private trusts, and foundation. According to the study carried out by the foundation centre, the trusts and foundations are more than 88,000. The trusts and foundations release over $40 billion annually (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The organizations are complex to research and one can find them using directories to subscribe (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). Mostly, grants are issued by the American government to student in post secondary institutions. The government provides grants to students inform of loans to pursue their education. A grant is a sum of money that a grantor gives to people who qualify for their help (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). People do not repay grant money. The topic about grants has become debatable issue and people do not believe if grants exist. Most people argue that grants are not real as they do not know how to access them (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). Others think grants are made for the rich, and to exploit people. Most people think grants have to be repaid after some time. This is not true as grants given free to the community to improve existing projects or start new projects (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).
The comments surrounding the issue have made it difficulty for people to apply for grants (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The topic where to find grants in the government and private sector will help people know where to locate grants from the government, and private sector (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The topic is important as it provides tips on how to locate grants from various sources like the internet, new papers, journals and libraries (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). It is not easy to qualify for government grants as the requirements are stricter than in private company. For an applicant to qualify for government grants, he should have knowledge about the grants being offered (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). He should also know how to find the grants as many people apply for government grants. Also, the applicant should do thorough research to identify the grantor and the qualifications. This will make it easy for the applicant to qualify (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).
The requirements for government grants put people off and most people end up not applying for grants. Knowing where to find various types of grantors like the private sector and non profit organization will help people overcome the dilemma. People will get financial assistance from the agencies (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).Governments and private sectors provide grant money to people who qualify (Holis, 2004). There are various forms of grants. The government and private sector provide grants like education grants, housing grants, and businesses grants (Holis, 2004). Other organizations provide day care grants. There are several federal agencies that offer thousands of grant programs annually. Government agencies are put into various categories of grants. Some agencies are found in more than one category as they offer various types of grants (Holis, 2004). For example, the department of education offers education grants and minority grants (Holis, 2004). Thus, the department falls is into two categories. Government agencies offer the various types of grants like housing and education. The federal government funds are a great source of grant funding (Holis, 2004). Grant funding from federal government are competitive. Private sectors also offer grant to people to start small businesses. Non profit organizations also provide grants.
The grants offered by non profit organizations are raised through public fundraising activities or acquired through donation (Holis, 2004). It is not easy to qualify for government grants as the requirements are stricter than the requirements for private sector. People can get various types of grants from the government. For example, the government offers education grants to students wishing to continue with their studies (Holis, 2004). In addition to education grants, the government offers business grants for people wishing to start up small businesses. The biggest challenge in accessing grant money is lack of knowledge where to find grant money. Though, governments and private sectors provide large sums of grant money annually. Most people do not apply for grants (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003). This is because people do not know where to find grant money. This makes it difficulty for people to apply for grant money from the government, and private sector. People can find grants from various sources. For example, people can find grants from the internet, newspapers, websites and journals (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003).First, people can find grant money from the government’s websites. Most governments advertise grants in their websites (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003).
The government states clearly the kind of grants it is offering. This makes it easy for people to know the type of grants, and identify the grants that fit their needs. In addition, the government states the qualifications, and requirements of the grants. The requirements and the application method are stated clearly in the website (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003). Most people do not utilize the internet and government websites, and that is why they do not know how to find grants. The government should educate people on grants, where to find them, and how to apply for grants. This is because most people in the society are illiterate, and they do not know how to access grants. People do not know how to utilize the technology (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003).Another place where people can find government grants is news papers. Most governments advertise the grants they are offering on the newspapers (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003). This is because news papers reach a lot of people and a large percentage of the population is able to access them. People can identify advertisements from the government on grants.
The government states the type of grant on the news paper like housing, businesses grants and education grants. It also states the qualifications for the grants (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003).Moreover, people can find grants from the government from journals. Most governments have journals that are published after a certain period (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003). The journals contain government information about grants. The government publishes the type of grants it is offering, the qualification, and requirements in the journals (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). People can access the journal from the government offices. Most government offices have copies of the journals, and one can get explanation on how to apply for the grants (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003). Most people in the society do not have time to find where to access grants. This is why grants are fictional in the society. Other people think that grants are made for the rich. Government grants are made for anyone, and anybody can access the grants. Thus, people should spent time to know more about grants.
Most people live in poverty because they lack clear information about grants. Most grantors provide information to clients on how to access grants, and where to find grants (Hall-Ellis & Jerabek, 2003).Apart from finding grants from journals and websites, people can visit places offering grants (Holis, 2004). Government agencies offering grants are always open and people can visit the offices to know more about grants (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). The agencies provide different types of grants. For example, people applying for education grants can visit the ministry of education (Holis, 2004). The ministry offers various types of grants like education grants, and minority grants to minority students (Holis, 2004). This makes it easy for students to continue with their studies. The most common place where people look for grants from the government is the catalog of federal domestic assistance. The catalog contains names of government that provide grants (Holis, 2004).Lastly, people can also find grants from the library (Holis, 2004).
Most public libraries have books that show the types of grants from the federal government. The books show the agencies offering grants, and how to apply for the grants. People can seek assistance from the library on how to find grants (Holis, 2004).Non profit organization and private sector also offer grants to people (Holis, 2004). Most grants from non profit organizations are mainly raised through donation and fund raising. Non profit organizations advertise grants on the websites. The organizations specify the types of grants, and the requirements (Gamkhar, 2002). People can find grants from the organizations websites. Most of the organizations have websites with detailed information about grants. People need to log in to the websites and find the grants they require. Also, people can find grants from the organizations journals. The organizations have monthly journals that provide information about grants. People should utilize the websites and journals to identity grants (Gamkhar, 2002). The organizations offer various types of grants that are similar to government grants. For example, the organizations offer businesses grants to people wishing to start up small businesses.
They also offer education grants and grants for specific projects. People can apply for grants from the non profit organizations to improve their living standards (Gamkhar, 2002).In addition to websites, people can visit libraries and find grants from the books. Libraries have books that contain information about grantors. One is able to know more about grantors, and choose the right grantor (Gamkhar, 2002). Most organizations offering grants are not genuine, and they make it dificuity for citizens to differentiate grantors who are genuine and those who are not (Fromm, 2007). Thus, people should visit the organizations website and identify genuine grantors. They can use the library sources to identify genuine grantors (Fromm, 2007). Most grantors put enough details on the website to make it easy for clients to differentiate fake grantors, and genuine grantors. Other organizations place fake information on the website as they are only aimed at making money (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). People should be careful when finding grants.
They should investigate the organization offering grants and get clear information. This is to overcome the dilemma surrounding grants. Most people in the society believe grants are not really and companies are out to exploit clients by making money (Fromm, 2007). Grants are there, but one has to take time to investigate the grantor, and the grant being offered. People can search for grants and grantors from private sector from directories. One has to use subscription directories to reach the organization (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).In conclusion, Most of the grants from government agencies, government and private sector can be accessed from the website, directories, journals, news papers or visiting the websites. People have no enough knowledge on how to find grants from the government, and private sector. This has made the level of poverty in the country to increase (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). This is because people do not have enough capital or funds to start small businesses or improve the businesses (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).
Also, people do not have enough money to pay hospital bills, get education and improve their living standards. The government and private sector do not state clearly where they place grants and a large percentage of the population in America does not know where to access them (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). People who know what grants are, and where they can find them have easy time when looking for grants and they have benefited a lot from the grants. Some have used grants from the government, and private sector to improve their living standards (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999). To overcome the issues, most governments and private sector provide education to citizens about grants. The agencies provide education and skills on how to get grants and manage grants free. The government should increase the number of agencies offering assistance to the public on how to find grants. The information above will help people know how to find grants and improve their living standards (Edelson &Foundation centre, 1999).
