Global Warming Is Not Man Made

Introduction

Global warming is the increase in average temperature of the earth’s surface. The earths temperature has risen from0.74 ± 0.18 ° C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F).According to report released by intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC), shows that human activities are the major cause of global warming. Human activities like burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and agriculture have led to increase in earth’s temperature. Global warming is mainly caused by high concentration of greenhouse gases at the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are mainly released when fossil fuels are burned and during industrial activities. Examples of greenhouse gases released when fossil fuels are burned include carbon dioxide and methane. This paper supports the argument that global warming is not man made.

Global warming is not man made

The debate on global warming has been going on for a long time. This is because most people believe that human activities are not the major cause of global warming (Spencer, 2010). Other people argue that global warming is caused by man made activities. Many people disagree with the causes of global warming. For example, most scientists and professionals do not believe global warming is caused by human activities (Labohm, Rozendaal & Thoenes, 2004). This is because human activities like burning of fossil fuels and deforestation have little impact on the environment. The scientists argue that, carbon dioxide can not have a large impact on the environment and that global warming is a natural process.

People who support the human activities as the major cause of global warming argue that, carbon dioxide and other gases have a large impact on the atmosphere and they are the major cause of global warming. Most scientists have come out to argue that global warming is not man made. Most scientists argue that global warming is caused by natural activities like the rotation of the earth. Deforestation cannot cause global warming. Trees use carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and release oxygen (Labohm, Rozendaal & Thoenes, 2004). Most people argue that when trees are cut down, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases. Though, the amount of carbon dioxide increases, carbon dioxide does not correlate with global warming. Thus, man made activities like deforestation can not cause global warming. Global warming is a natural process that results from natural processes like rotation of the earth.

Other people argue that global warming is caused by burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels release green house gases when they are burned. The gases accumulate in the atmosphere and prevent radiation. Scientists argue that gases released are not able to cause global warming. This is because the amount of carbon dioxide and methane released are not able to cause global warming (Horner, 2007). The gases are not released in large quantities. Main supporters of global warming argue that global warming is caused by live stocks. Animals chew curd and release gases like methane and carbon dioxide. The supporters argue that the amount of carbon dioxide and methane increases in the atmosphere, and causes global warming. In contrast opponents of the theory of global warming argue that the levels of carbon dioxide and other gases do not directly correlate with global warming trends. The opponents have associated global warming with various natural processes like sun spots, and volcanic eruption.

Other natural factors that cause global warming include changes in the earth’s orbit and earth’s orientation towards the sun (Horner, 2007). The scientists have provided data from natural process above to support their argument. In addition, the scientists have provided evidence from other sources to support their argument .For example, the scientists have used data collected from the increasing arctic temperatures and glacier shrinkage. Data used to support the argument was collected before the industrial revolution began. They have used data from the rising sea level to support their argument. Many people argue that global warming is not man made as most of the man made activities like industrial activities and burning of fossil fuels has no enough records to support the argument. The scientists believe the data used to support the debate is more accurate because data from natural processes was collected long time ago. But, data based on human activities does not give enough evidence of the earth’s temperature as it is recent (Balling, 1992).

Conclusion

Global warming has become a debatable issue. This is because most people believe global warming is caused by man made activities. Others believe that global warming is caused by natural processes, and that it is not man made. The opponents have used various sources and evidence to support their arguments. Most scientists believe that human activities like deforestation, livestock, burning of fossil fuels and industrial activities do not cause global warming. The activities release green house gases like carbon dioxide and methane to the atmosphere. Scientists argue that the level of green house gases like carbon dioxide and methane have no correlation with global warming. Thus, global warming is not man made. Global; warming occurs as a result of natural factors like sun spots and volcanic activities. Other factors like change in orientation of the earth towards the sun and change in earths orbit cause increase in earth’s temperature.
