Credentials required for grant money from government and private foundations.

Table of Contents

The government and private sector provide large amounts of money inform of grants for development. The government and private sector require people to have the right credentials to get grants. Grants from the government are competitive, and one should have the right credentials so as to qualify for the grants. This is because most people apply for grants from the government more than the private sector. The demand for government grants is high compared to demand for grants from the private sector (Heymans & Plummer, 2002). Knowing the credentials required for grant money has become a major problem in the society. Most people in the community do not know the qualifications required to get a grant. This chapter is aimed at identifying the credentials required to get money from the government, and private sector. This will make it easy for people to apply for grants (Heymans & Plummer, 2002).

The requirements for grants from the private sector and government vary from one organization to another. In addition, the requirements for the grants differ from one grant to another. For example, the requirements for education grants differ from the requirements for businesses grants. The applicant should identify the right grant that suits his needs and the requirements for the grant. People applying education grants from the government may need different requirements from people who need grants for research or health care (Browning, 2008).There are various credentials required to get grants from the government and private sector. For example, people applying for grants are required to submit a grant proposal before getting a grant, and an application (Browning, 2008).First, the applicant is required to submit a grant proposal to the grantors. Grant proposal are important in receiving grants as they determine if one is going to qualify for a grant or not. Most people face challenges when applying for grants (Browning, 2008). This is because they do not know the credential required to get grants from the government.

Most grantors ask for a proposal. Writing a grant proposal is not easy as many people in the society do not have the right skills. The grant proposal should be structured well so as to attract the attention of the grantor. Many applicants fail to get grants from the government, private sector or any other grantor because they not submit proposal that meet the standards required (Browning, 2008). The proposals do not address the main objective of the project or reason for getting grant money. This disqualifies the applicant. Also, the proposal is not structured well. When writing a proposal, the applicant should give a summary of the project. He should also state the objective of the project (Browning, 2008).Most grantors give grants to projects that seem feasible. The government has a different criterion for identifying the objective of the project from the private sector. The federal government gives grants to people who have stated the objective of the project well (Browning, 2008). The government does not give money to any one who does not meet the requirements.

This is because the applicant has to apply for a grant if the objective of the project is similar to the objective of the organization. Most grantors monitor the progress of the projects to know how the grant offered is being used (Browning, 2008).This makes it dificuity for people to qualify. This is because most people do not have an objective that is inline with the government’s objective (Browning, 2008). Most grantors look at the objective of the project. The applicant should have skills to identify the objective of the project. Also, the applicant should have skills to develop the proposal. The applicant should write the proposal well (Browning, 2008). Most people fail because the do not have skills on how to write a grant proposal. To overcome this, the applicant should practice how to write proposal early (Browning, 2008). He can go for training on how to write a grant proposal or he can request a grant writer to write a proposal for him. Many people in the community are illiterate, and this makes it difficulty for the applicants to write a grant proposal.

This affects their performance of the applicant. People who qualify for grants from the government and private sector submit good proposals. Thus, the applicant should be able to submit a good grant proposal (Karsh Elen &Arlen, 2006).Another credential is the application made by the client. The applicant should develop his or her application well. Grantors provide details, and guidelines to be followed when developing an application. The applicant is required to follow the guidelines, and fill in all the details. The applicant should give full information when applying for a grant. Grantors use the application to grade the performance of the applicant (Karsh Elen &Arlen, 2006). If the applicant does not submit an application that is well developed, he does not qualify for the grant. The application should be well developed so as to earn marks. The grants offered by the government and private sector are competitive. So the applicant should work hard in developing the application so as to win the grants (Karsh Elen &Arlen, 2006).

If the applicant does not know how to prepare an application, he should ask for assistance from the grantors, or any other person. He should take time to develop the grant proposal, and the application. The two elements are vital when receiving grants from the government and private sector. Many people do not have enough time to prepare good applications and proposal. The applicant should take time to carry out research so as to identify the grantor, the type of grants being offered and the credentials required to receive grants from the government. This will help the applicant develop an application and grant proposal that meet the organizations standards (Karsh Elen &Arlen, 2006).Apart from grant proposal and application, there are other requirements that are specific to the type of grant. For example, the government offers education grants to students who have financial needs and who have performed well (Heymans & Plummer, 2002). Thus, an applicant applying for education grant should have financial needs, and good academic achievement.

The federal government provides grants to students on the basis of financial needs. The government provides two types of grants. That is the federal pall grant, and federal supplement educational opportunity grant. The grants are warded to the student who demonstrates the greatest financial need (Heymans & Plummer, 2002).People applying for research grants should have credentials that are relevant to the grant. The grantors offering grants for research require candidates to submit a research proposal (Heymans & Plummer, 2002). The grantors analyze the proposal and award grants to the student who submit the best proposal. Same principle applies to health care, and business grants. People who submit good proposal in business and health care get health care grants and a business grants (Heymans & Plummer, 2002).Most people do not apply for government grants and grants from private sector. This is because people think grants are loans and one should have certain credentials to qualify for a grant (Dianne, 2008).

Grants are not loans and one should not link credentials required to get a grant from the government with credentials required to get a loan. Any one can get a grant from the government as long as he does not have collateral, cosigner or a credit check. The applicant does not need to repay a grant. An applicant can get a grant from the government as long as he meets the requirements required to get a grant (Dianne, 2008).In conclusion, the credentials required getting a grant from the government and firms in the private sector varies from one form to another. The applicant should be able to submit a grant proposal (Dianne, 2008). The proposal should be well written with the objective of the project well stated. Also, the applicant should be able to write an application (Dianne, 2008). The grantors use the application and grant proposal to grade applicants. One should have the right skills to write a grant proposal and develop an application (Dianne, 2008). The requirements differ from one grant to another. Applicants applying for education grants should show financial needs and have excellent academic achievement (Dianne, 2008).
