Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm
Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm
In Genesis 1:26, we hear that God thought of creating man and in his image man was created. Man is made of three key entities namely spirit, mind, and body, and when one is sick too does the other parts. Treating a patient seems easy but it requires not only treating body symptoms, but preparing the mind and spirit of the patient in order to get total healing process. Spiritual food plays a vital role in the healing process although latest medical healing techniques are believed to be the key elements of the healing. The above process of healing the patient is described as integrated or holistic healing approach.
Discussion
The healing hospital
Evidence shows that the ancient tradition concept that describes a healing hospital bases the entire thing on the love concept. The best approach to provide effective healing services to the patient is developing a balanced framework that responds to the human spirit demands and use advanced scientific healing aspects.
A Healing Physical Environment
This component of healing hospital puts consideration on the patient. Apart from providing care to the patient, it helps the patient and family members understand the system hence create a conducive environment for the parties involved in the healing process. Creating a loving, aesthetically, and compassionate environment allows both the patient and family members cope with the illness condition. Evidence suggests that this approach has assisted different patients and family members understand caregivers and respond to stress in the best way. A noisy or confusing hospital healing environment does not allow a patient respond to illness conditions in the best way, (Geffen, 2009).
The integration of work design and technology
This healing hospital concept helps medical staff provide quality and effective services to patients. It allows workers increase privacy in service offered and similarly ensure that enough security gets into operation. Additional privacy in healthcare services helps patients feel that they are given the right health care services. Evidence shows that the current information technology helps caregiver manage to develop a healing environment. It is through advanced technology in the health industry caregivers have established simpler way of testing and diagnosing their patients. Some of the current digitalized technology used in healing hospital includes cardiology, pulmonary testing, and radiology. They have allowed physicians develop sound decisions in relation to patient’s conditions. This made nurses spend most time taking care of patients something that develops a health environment, (Stichler, 2011).
A culture of Radical Loving Care
Just like the above healing hospital components, this component is a critical in developing a healing environment irrespective of disease affecting the patient. Without a culture of compassionate, even if the buildings and technology are the best development of a healing environment is not realizable. Parties involved in the healing process should provide culture compassionate in order to understand each other. Evidence shows that patients get worse when they are deprived of love. In dealing with this condition, humans are known in spiritual quality of love response. Caring of love in the process of healing provides enough reasons to make the patient respond positively. The holistic approach has enabled patients meet their spiritual needs that are also influential in the process of their healing, (Garbee & Beare, 2010).
Challenged in Creating a Healing Environment
The concept of the healing hospital paradigm helps create a healing environment. However, a number of challenges exist in changing from the traditional hospital approach to the current approach. Lack of finances is one of the challenges that affect development of strategies from the traditional setting to a modern healing hospital setting. Massive investments in technology, facilities, training of staff, and recruitment have affected the entire changing process. The process of change may be a daunting task to many simply because everything requires finance something that may take long or become impossible, (Stichler, 2011).
Legal challenges are part of problems that may prevent the process of change from traditional to the current concept. Unlike the traditional healing setting, the current setting is characterized by different cost and legal requirements that make it difficult to establish a healing environment. Organization staffing system is another challenge that prevents the process of developing a desirable healing environment. Unlike the current system of groups in healthcare staff, the desired system that put staff in a model that creates equality becomes difficult and challenging in the current setting, (Garbee & Beare, 2010).Philosophical challenges are part of problems in creating a healing environment. The traditional approach used the aspect of eliminating conditions while the current approach uses analysis of each and every condition. This change may be challenging simply because some patients may not positively respond to the idea, (Geffen, 2009).
Conclusion
Apart from providing curing services, the healing hospital paradigm focuses on developing and improving healing environment. In order to realize such an environment, the components of a healing physical environment, integrated work design and technology, and a culture of loving care should be established.
