A. Examine the importance of a measurement program as it considers its staffing needs. What elements might it contain?

According to Heneman & Judge (2009), the importance of measurement cannot be overstated when it comes to addressing the staffing needs for a given organization. This is essentially because an organization utilizes the measurement program to come up with or formulate the various characteristics as well as attributes to be subjected to measurement in addition to enhancing measurement scoring. The measurement program may contain; attribute selection, attribute operational definition, attribute measurement construction and finally, attribute measurement or gauging.


Analyze the outcomes to the organization if such a program is not in place?

It is important to note that if such a program is not in place, the organization may end up committing a number of selection errors which could have been averted were such a program to be adopted.


Propose and examine a list of at least 3 things a selection decision maker would need to collect in making staff decisions.

In making staff decisions, I would need to access information or resource availability. The second thing I would need to collect includes relevant data that would help me make a valid and reasonable decision and finally, I would seek to collect all the necessary information about those involved so as to have a concrete basis for making the said decisions.


Propose at least 2 ways this information can be collected

            Information collection in this case can be executed through business decision making and active directory to IT. It should also be noted that the use of experts from outside can be considered so as to enhance programs within the organization. Further, a wide range of other sources may exist including but not in any way limited to publications.

It is true measurement is critical as far as organizational staffing is concerned. The processes of measurement in this case including operational attribute definition, attribute measure formulation as well as the utilization of the measure for purposes of attribute gauging capture some of the main elements of the measurement program. However, apart from selection errors there are other outcomes to the organization incase the program is not in place including failure to meet set deadlines.


Student: TERESA BALDWIN

It can be noted that the importance of the measurement program can be exhibited by its ability to enhance the selection of attributes as well as development and scoring of the process of measurement. It is not clear what adverse impact means when it comes to the impact if such a program is not in place though EEO/AA compliance claims are largely relevant.


Student: ALZONA PARKER

The main things a selection decision maker would need according to Heneman & Judge (2009) include resource availability, relevant data necessary for the formulation of valid and reasonable decisions and last but not least, relevant information about those involved. When it comes to ways of collecting information, sales promotions wouldn’t work but other approaches like engagement of outside staff could be helpful.

It is important for the decision maker to follow a series of prescribed processes as far as the collection of data is concerned. Most important amongst this includes the support services included including but not in any way limited to legal support. It shall also be noted that the selection decision maker remains liable as far as procedures of testing are concerned.
