Influences on Behavior and Psychological Disorders Presentation Outline

 Introduction

Individuals suffering from behavioral and psychological disorders are often intensely affected by altered states of consciousness. Most of them develop anxiety and fear when faced with situations such a sleep or hypnosis thus endangering their mental status, as well as, their physical development. The degree of controlling ones consciousness for the victims is dependent on sleep, meditation, hypnosis and uptake of psychoactive drugs.

Discussion

Effects of sleep on an individuals suffering from behavioral and psychological disorders are influenced by the intensity of sleep, as well as, the ability of the individual to fall into undisturbed unconsciousness. Different categories of psychoactive drugs on the other hand interfere with the state of consciousness as they alter the normal activities of the brain hence rendering it unable to control the individual’s mental ability which is equally unstable. Meditation is only made possible where the individual is able to control his/her mental activities (Hockenbury and Sandy, 2004). Hence for individuals suffering from psychological disorders, it maybe difficult to attain maximum results from the process due to the fact that the body may not recognize consciousness. Similarly, the deep relaxation obtained from hypnosis is made possible if the individual is in a position to control their trances when relaxing. Victims of behavioral and psychological disorders may not attain maximum relaxation as the mental disability reduces their capability to control their mental activities (Hockenbury, 2004).

Conclusion

Various levels of consciousness such as meditation, psychoactive drugs and hypnosis in individuals are significantly influenced by the mental status individuals suffering from behavioral and psychological disorders
