An Intellectual Pursuit or Experience that has added Value to me
Despite the fact that my family has always considered me to be well read and intelligent, I at times feel that I have failed to live up to their prospects. In my primary level of study, I actively participated in class and extracurricular activities, and always emerged among the top students. The presence and support of my family gave me the motivation to work harder and perform much better in successive examinations.
I developed a special interest towards sciences and mathematics as I approached middle and high school level. I read widely in these fields, an act that triggered my curiosity and the inspiration to gain more insight. Astronomy is one particular field that I was greatly captivated in. I was enthralled by the mere thought of learning more about the planets, stars, meteors and a wide array of heavenly bodies. Despite gaining significant knowledge, this distinct interest negatively affected my grades because I most of the times studies content that was not in the syllabus. Unsurprisingly, my overall academic performance went down and I eventually graduated with an above average grade.
Another notable field that intrigued me was information technology. My first computer classes in high school were among my most memorable days. The mere desire to learn more about computer hardware and software fascinated me. I opted to pursue computer science discipline, which was unfortunately scrapped out a few months later. This came like a great shock, and I was forced to make the hardest and difficult decision of dropping Computer science and substituting it with commerce.
My zeal for computers has never faded, even though I have been away from the intellectual world for a number of years. I always hope that one day I would live up to my dream of pursuing a career in computer science. My intellectual journey made me realize the great passion for computers that lies within me.
