Apart from operant and classical conditioning, contingency contracts also serve as vital platforms for streamlining the behavior of children in the classroom. These types of contracts comprise of conditions which govern the course of action in the event of certain behavior. This is helpful in ensuring that the learner works strongly towards achieving certain goals. On the other hand, these conditions also help in minimizing the practice of undesired behavior among learners.

The chosen reinforcement schedule depends on the leaner’s ability as well as the prevailing conditions. In essence, some environments facilitate for negative reinforcements while others facilitate for positive reinforcement. The instructor uses negative reinforcement in the event that the learner is deviates from the desired behavioral framework. In contrast, the positive reinforcement framework is used when the learner conforms to the desired behavioral framework (Coon, 2008).


Question 4

There are instances when the schedule might change. This mostly occurs when the reinforcement mechanism is deemed as ineffective. Additionally, the schedule might change when the available resources are inadequate compared to the diverse needs of learners.
