Licensure and Health Regulation

Licensure is the least of effects that affect the shortage of nurses. The most contributing factors include a fast growth of the population, a workforce that is aging, a reduction in the number of applicants to attend nursing school and the baby boomers generation that requires concentrated medical services in the future. The regulations on licensure only affect the situation at subtle levels-the state preference when it comes to where nurses prefer to practice, but not actually the number of nurses nationwide(Aya Healthcare, 2010).

I disagree and beg to differ from the fact that the economy is contributing to a lack of jobs in nursing. The situation at the moment indicates that most hospitals and health institutions are unable to adequately staff their workforce with the required number of nurses. This greatly inconveniences most health organizations’ activities and trying to lean the staff by recruiting fewer nurses may not make sense in any way, because service delivery would be hampered. This may proved wrong by the fact that some organizations are opting to recruit internationally trained nurses from other nations (Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies, 2006).

Harmonization of licensure across states will greatly contribute to efficiency of healthcare delivery especially, in interstate zones and the steps being undertaken in enacting license agreements is a great contributor to better healthcare delivery.

A paper trail is in actual sense a necessity, because it can help an individual track the records of all activities and actions that s/he engages in. In today’s environment with multiple means of communication people rarely have records of their activities and in such instances a paper trail would come in handy.
