Needs identification with the customer is one of the crucial deals which cannot be ignored in any project proposal. Furthermore, need identification is the beginner phase of the project life cycle in any business. The need and coupled requirements get usually prepared by the customer in a paper identified as a request for proposal (RFP). The project manager must help the customer in needs identification since they must clearly define the challenge/problem that meets the required standards. This may mean collecting information or data about the magnitude of the need. It is also significant for them to try to quantify the challenge so as to establish whether the anticipated profits from implementing a solution outweigh the cost or ramifications of operating the project.
Situations may arise whereby several opportunities or needs have already been identified, but the funds get limited to accomplish all of them. Furthermore, there would be combined support by both the project manager and the customer is ensuring evaluating various needs and opportunities while determining which project to be implemented. Having comprehended the evaluation procedure and a well done evaluation, with the selection team will amplify the chances of making the best decision that would come out in the magnificent overall benefit.

Like a wise man said, “one finger cannot kill a flea” this project must be worked upon by combined efforts in order to gain the profitable results. RFP process gets considered being a competitive situation; hence the customer must unit with the selecting team to gain the best proposal project.
