A career in child protective services has many challenges or frustrations that affect the performance and workers in a child protective organization. Working with abusive families is not easy for many workers, and this affects their ability to serve the families. Protective service workers should have the necessary skills and knowledge needed to work with people mostly abusive families. However, most workers do not have the skills and this leads to frustration as they are unable to deal with abusive families. Protective service workers need to get trained on how to deal with abusive families.  Though service workers can get training from various institutions, they should have the basics to benefit from the training.


In addition, stress related to the child protective job causes frustration among protective service workers. Employees involved in protective services   get stressed daily, and this impacts their performance. In order to cope with the stress, they should get moral support or support from friends and families. Moreover, bureaucracy results to frustration. Agencies that have bureaucracy are not good and working in such agencies leads to frustration. Employees should find ways to make the system work for the clients, but most workers are unable to do so. This causes stress and frustration. Lastly, embracing change can cause frustration due to lack of flexibility. Employees should see change positive and embrace it. However, embracing change is not an easy process as employees try to resist change. Many workers resist change because of its effect on their jobs.  Hence, workers working in protective agencies should be willing to change and be change agents to minimize stress levels. This will also help survive an imperfect system.
