Reflection Of Nursing As A Career
There is probably no better career than nursing, at least to me. The joy of being a nurse lies in not only the various opportunities to learn new things but also the opportunity to serve and experience the intense satisfaction it gives to me as well as to the patient. The prospect of meeting diverse challenges and making a difference in a patient’s life is irresistible.With nursing concerning itself mainly with health optimization and suffering alleviation, its importance to populations, family units and individual persons cannot be underestimated. I will find it very fulfilling to be at every level of patient support which includes comfort and hygiene provision, injections administration, medical records updating and roles in non-major processes and procedures of a therapeutic and diagnostic nature.In contrast with other careers, nursing will provide me with a good level of job stability and a wide range of options to choose from. These options include but are not limited to flexibility in terms of responsibility levels and schedules. In addition to that nursing will give me the opportunity to offer assistance to those who are in dire need of such assistance. As mentioned earlier, there is no greater thing than helping those to whom your intervention will make a big difference in their lives.Just like in other careers, nursing also has its challenges such as burn-outs experienced as a result of working long hours and sometimes being away from family and friends on a regular basis. Despite all this, what will make the nursing career intensely gratifying for me is the passion and desire to make an impact in other peoples lives.
Practical plan of action
For any long journey, one always starts with the first step. To me what matters most is the destination, the distance notwithstanding. To me the destination is nursing, the peak of my career. This resolve I have to make it in nursing can be outlined in a number of steps, some of which I have taken, to achieve my dream of service to others. Below is my practical action plan. In line with the requirements, I completed all the nursing perquisites at long beach city. This I did in one semester and the classes proved valuable for me in terms of familiarity with American nursing practices as well as the local health system. After that I worked as a volunteer with VA hospital in long beach city. This served to strengthen my commitment to service of others as well as respect for diversity. On my admission to your institution if considered I will work to ensure I complete all my course requirements as well as continue to gather requisite know-how to succeed in the nursing field.
