Teaching is a profession that I have always been passionate about. This application is of great importance to me because I would like to expand my knowledge in teaching. This is experience that I believe I will be able to get in teaching in a high learning institution. Through this, I will be able to learn alternative methods of teaching. I have always wished to work in challenging environments and this will be an opportunity for me to handle more and greater challenges and thereby enabling me to become more creative and innovative in my teaching. Currently, I am a junior university teacher and I have known the university to have very good student-teacher relationships. This is what I believe will enable me gain the experience that will help me achieve these goals. By learning, I am certain that the experience that I will be gaining will not only help in enhancing my profession but will help the students and the entire university achieve success and hence growth too.
I am currently working in the department of linguistics and while here, I have taught foreign language for two years. In addition to teaching in the department of linguistics, I am also teaching English at the departments of law, international relations and management. I am applying to be an English teacher at a higher level. If given the opportunity, I would like to teach English to the students of law, and international relations politics management. This I will do in relation to their different areas of study and profession. English is my area of professionalism and since it is a language that is used internationally, I believe that all students should have a great proficiency in the language.The United States admits students from different parts of the world some of whom English is their second language. To be able to enjoy their study in the United States, these students need to learn English. As students of law and international relations, they need to be able to communicate to people in the international world. That is why I have taken on teaching English so as to help students develop good English and communication skills and at an advanced level.
As an educational leader, I have always tried to learn new things, to improve my knowledge, and bring new teaching methods to the process of teaching. These are things I have always done with the aim of making the lessons more interesting for my students. Learning is a process which is supposed to be interesting and students want to be taught by someone whom they can get along with very well. That is why the educational system needs professionals who are younger, energetic and experienced. As a young and energetic teacher, I believe that I will be able to bring more interest and zeal to the young law and international relations professionals as they progress with their studies.I would like to participate in different educational projects for young teachers to learn different teaching methods and ways of ensuring that student-teacher relationships are enhanced each day. As a young educator, I need some training to enable me gain a deeper experience and to improve on my knowledge. With my hard work, I will gain this experience through the educational projects that the university has for young teachers.
As a teacher, I have always known that learning is an interactive process. The teacher is not supposed to only lecture and the students be simply listeners. This brings boredom to the class and the students will fast loose interest in the subject. Making my class sessions interactive is a method of teaching that I introduced in my classroom. Through this, as the teacher, I only acted as a facilitator. It is the students who practically took lead during my teaching sessions. I made the students free to ask questions and they also took turns in facilitating discussions within the class.Through these interactive sessions, I introduced the idea of having class group discussions. The students could learn from each other and they were free to come to me whenever they experienced any difficulties. This is an idea that was taken well and positively by my students. It made learning become easier since as the teacher I did not look like someone far above them. This is a method that I used even have to date and I have seen it achieve a lot of success. From the turns that they take in facilitating discussions in class, the students also get to become more confident.
As a teacher, I always do my best to make the process of teaching more qualitative. To reinforce the lesson, I prepare different class games. I am also a good researcher and this I do by reading books, newspapers, magazines and searching materials from the internet. I always ensure that my students are updated on all the current happenings in the world so as to prepare them to face the world as well equipped professionals. I enjoy every bit of what I am doing and am one person who is highly responsible.I believe that the professional skills, personal attributes and professional experience that I have will be of a great importance to the university. I will work diligently, and meet all the objectives of the university. This I will do knowing that I will be preparing professionals whose knowledge and skills are highly needed in our nation and the entire world. I will regard my acceptance to work in the university not only as an honor but a commitment to work hard.
