Introduction
Is using animals for experimental purpose necessary? All through history animal experimentation have played an essential role in world’s leading discoveries and for human benefit. Nevertheless, people tend to that there is an immense number of animals that are suffering serious damage because of the process of experimentation. Different people have different perspectives concerning this issue. Some say it is necessary while other say it is not necessary. Most people are ignorant or do not understand about the nature of the lives that experimented animals are living (Monamy, V 2000). Many also do not understand the actual laboratory techniques and procedures for this process. There are millions of animals that die every day because of the torture they exposed to because of chemical drug. Although animal experiments result to some beneficial aspects to human beings, there are several alternative methods that can be used.Animal rights activists should make sure that animal, experiments entirely prevented. Living things should not be subjected to pain and suffering when there are other alternatives of doing the research (Paul, J & Paul, F 2001). Performing animal research is not worthless, but worthless when the animal is subjected to pain and suffering. Most of supporters and opponents of animal experiments usually concerned with pain. In order for animal research to be legal, the researchers should find other ways that can be used that will not cause pain to the animals (Hartinger, W 2005). In order to have potential agreement between the supporters of animal experiments and opponents, they should focus on reducing pain. By identifying a possible solution to reducing pain, the animal rights activist and animal researchers will compromise on the issue.
Animal experiments
It is not ethical to use animals for experiments or testing. I own plenty of animals and can never imagine why a person may decide to intentionally decide to hurt one of them. Scientists need to be stopped from using animals for testing as they do not keep track of the exact records, and also the animals do not get enough care after having endured horrible living conditions (Paul, J & Paul, F 2001). The animals used for experimental purposes normally exposed to a lot of pain, and they never receive the care and love. Most of these animals spend their whole life locked in cages and only allowed to live the cage when going for testing. Intelligent animals like cats and dogs remain lonely in their cages because of neglect. Tiny mice have to grow large tumors, which are as large as their bodies, rats suffer seizure, and kittens get purposefully blinded. I believe that to this day, there should be no excellent reason as to why any animal should be subjected to unwanted torture and cruel punishment.
Immoral and unreliable
Animal experimentation is immoral and unreliable. People should not assume that something that works on a human being will also work on animals. The way animals react to different diseases and drugs is different to how human react. Animal testing proved not reliable in the case of the test of morphine (Paul, J & Paul, F 2001). When morphine administered to a human being, it tends to calm them down. However, in the case of cats, it is different as they tend to go crazy, climbing walls and they cannot stop moving. This proves that animal testing is unreliable as testing on animals results different on humans.It is extremely essential for people to realize that animals do not live for the purpose of testing. Animals should be treated without cruelty. It is necessary for people to realize that animals do not have a voice to tell someone to stop hurting them. It is cruel for scientists to torture animals in the name of science (Hartinger, W 2005). Examples of acts of cruelty include blinding the monkey so that to study the effects of hallucination. It is also cruel for researchers to study how pain affects the level of aggression on animals. Animals are defenseless creatures, which look at a human being to offer them with protection and support.
Unethical
It is extremely wrong to experiment animals for material products such as cosmetics and sprays. It is unethical when one thinks of how cruel the scientists are to the animals. When they test the animals they not concerned with health. People need to know that animals usually respond differently to chemicals and drugs applied on them. Because of the fact that they react differently to the chemicals, it makes it difficult to conclude the results from the received data. Testing animals on drugs and chemicals is pointless because of the different response that people get. Therefore, because it is hard to come up with an effective conclusion, there is no need of performing the experiment.Sometimes animal experiment for biological reasons tends to be productive for medical purposes, but research indicates that only 2 % of human diseases and illnesses occur to animals (Monamy, V 2000). It also reported that almost all drugs cause diseases such as cancer to lab animals. There are many replaceable for animal experiments that can be used other than experimenting on animals. Then why should people decide to perform tests on the poor, innocent animals? It is the right time that people decide to fight for the rights of animals. These cruel procedures should not be performed on animals. It is essential that they be protected and taking care of with lots of love. People should start thinking of animal testing as a murder.
Illegal
Considering using animal experiments is not legal as a large number of animals killed and injured for the sake of cosmetics. Cosmetics companies should care deeply about the quality of the products that they are making. However, when ensuring safety of the products, they should consider other means of testing their products rather than using animals. There are many alternatives that can be used including the 3 dimension human skin models (Paul, J & Paul, F 2001). This is a model that replaces the replaces the test on rabbit in testing of skin irritation. Other alternatives that can be used include genetic mutations and cell culture tests.The non animal, methods of testing have proved to be scientifically superior to animal tests, and few periods are taken to complete. These tests do not cause harmful effects like animal tests. It also takes less time to complete the experiments (Hartinger, W 2005). Since cosmetic companies get entitled to ensuring safety, they should not consider any animal testing. A method that they can use is relying on the established cosmetics ingredients evaluated for their safety. Ames test usually considered as an excellent replacement for animal experiments because the lab animals get eliminated in favor of the bacteria.
Useless
Animal experimentation is a harmful, misleading and useless test. Most of the results achieved from these tests prove not to be effective as they tend to cause more harm to human beings. The results are not applicable on humans. This is because humans are different from animals physiologically and anatomically. Most of the experiments carried out on anima.ls are not relevant or useful, mostly in educational institutions. There are many successful veterinarians who get trained without using animals in Great Britain (Yarri, D 2005). In the United States, most of the veterinarians have to practice with animals performing surgeries in order to develop, the skills needed. Waste
Animal experiments should be stopped as it tends to waste animals. This is because the average researcher does not have a concern for the usable consequences or the practical effects of the research that they complete. When the researchers do not find applicable results, it is as best as when they do not perform the experiment. People need to know that all living things have the right of life and freedom just like a normal human. Animals should not be subjected to suffering as we have the obligation of not imposing suffering to anybody (Hayhurst, C 2000). Tests that result to being of no benefits should never be performed again as they prove not to result to the expected results. Animals are living things that do not change: therefore, performing more and more tests to animals is a sign of waste. This tends to subject the animal to more and more pain.
Pain
Animals used in experiments suffer more pain and distress than they should. The experiments performed in these animals involve some serious, deep cuttings that leave the animals in lots of pain before the wound heals. Some other researchers do not even consider providing the animals with the proper medication to foster faster healing. Others left to die as their use assumed to have come to an end. This is an act of in human and should never be encouraged (Hartinger, W 2005). Despite having some benefits from the experiments performed, people need to understand that animals are creatures that should be provided with care. The experiments performed on them help human beings; therefore, they should be offered with more care.
Conclusion
There are too many animals that usually die every year because of the inappropriate experiments done on them, when there are many replacements methods that can be used. It is time for people to stop hurting animals through the cruel procedures and save the innocent lives of the animals. People should protect the rights of animals through different forms like not purchasing products tested on animals. People can also protest against organizations that are supporting experimentation of animals. People should stop believing that animals are similar to human beings. Therefore, they should not be used in providing information to advance the medical knowledge. In conclusion, animal experiments are not necessary as it is a sign of cruelty, unreliable, a waste, and replaceable.
