Voluntary Euthanasia
Voluntary Euthanasia
According to the internet sources definitions, euthanasia is the intentional murder by act of omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit. On the other hand, voluntary euthanasia refers to when the individual who is murdered has requested to be killed. Furthermore,Euthanasia is also a term that has various definitions depending on what an individual acknowledges. Some scholars term it as “Mercy killing” intended to help the patient ease their excess pain. In all those definitions, the common factor in explaining and linking all this definitions is “intentional killing,” therefore, without the term “intentional killing” the definition is not valid.
The euthanasia procedure is commonly conducted in hospitals particularly to patients who are seriously ill. The intention of the individual who performs an act of euthanasia is to profit the one whose death is carried out (Rodney Syme 2008). Voluntary Euthanasia can also be abbreviated to mean “honorable death” this is accordance to the Greek’s historical definition. As is not enough, voluntary euthanasia is also an act of ending life without or in a painless method. This paper is intended to gather information about the ethical dilemma (euthanasia) through an interview to various respondents.
The interview summary:
The main topic discussed in the interview was an individual view of voluntary euthanasia. The chaplain began by discrediting the act saying that it is unGodly to for anyone to commit such an act. Furthermore, he added that the bible condemns any form of killing regardless of the problems the sufferer is undertaking. He stated that; “killing is a crime before God because he has commanded us not to kill I to condemn it equally.”Later on he told us that he condemns not people who want voluntary euthanasia since them alone can feel the agony which other people cannot feel. Therefore, he clearly disclosed his negative stand on the issue, as well as, his empathetic side of the people in need of voluntary euthanasia.
