Negotiation is a common problem that people use in formulating a decision and handling disputes. The parties involved in this case all want to have a win-win negotiation. Juwan want the contract should satisfy his personal needs. Howard wants a large mansion that has a pool inside and outside, bowling, theater, and other perks. During the negotiation between the manager and Howard’s agent, they seemed to disagree on the salary to be offered and then Riley come in and offered Juwan a lucrative deal. The risk between the negation of the deal with Riley and Juwan was that Riley did have other free agents in the team. Riley needed to take care of and also wanted to attract Howard so that to become a team member. The risk in this contract was that Bullet was taking the chance of losing Juwan to another team like Miami and funs would be upset and not attend games. The risk on Howard was allowing his agent to negotiate offers with Miami because Riley was doing anything possible and not following NBA.


The risk involved in negotiation of Howard’s free agent contract was the danger of a weak coach, playing for a losing team, a lower salary, or the risk of living in an undesirable city. In the process of monetary gain, Juwan was risking his comfort of playing for the team in his hometown. This is the town, which he got accustomed to, he had also established a loyal fan base. The two team managers would benefit offering Juwan a seven year contract. This is because Juwan had reached his potential and there was a high possibility of leading the team to a championship. Juwan risked an additional $40 to 50 million due to the incompletion of the Miami negotiation.
