Middle School Math’s

Monday, 4-18-11, from 7:45am – 10:45am

Today is the last day to provide math students with services both teaching and also providing them exams. I had completed all that was supposed to be done and I thought its wise to provide my students with a simple test so as to determine whether they have understood what I had been teaching them since I started my internship program. Just like any other day, I found my students already sat and they were waiting to here what I hand new for them. Unlike the other days, I entered the class quietly, placed my books on the table and started going round the class.

My students were used to my quick tests which were aimed at reminding them on what we had learnt the pervious day. What I had for them was totally different because I gave them a test to see their English level of confidence and how they were able to handle some complicated geometry and calculus assignments. Their performance was amazing simply because they could integrate ideas from one topic to another and solve it accordingly.

I taught students the value of working as a group, sourcing information from elders and the aspect of wanting to know more from those who have knowledge. After I was through with my work, I left for a while and returned to the class after half an hour. When I entered the class, I found my students applying what I had taught them. They were solving their problems in a group whereby ESL students were being help by students who had understood the whole idea on what was expected. I am made to believe that from the response which I got from them, they can sit for iLEAP without any problem.
