The Phallic Stage
The Phallic Stage
The Freud’s third stage in child development is vital simply because it is the period under which children learn about their genitals. The stage creates a confusion environment for the child because the stage makes a child develop affection of the parent of the opposite sex. It is the worst stage in child development cycle because a child develops aggression and may find envy. A child tries to develop possession characters but due to the age it does not happen rather creates the reason which children use to learn about their physical body. The physical body of child talks a lot and that are why kids develops opposite attraction, (Bernstein, 2010).
The stage helps in knowing why a child has certain features that other children does not have. In this case, the love a child develops towards her mother or the love daughter develops to his father is relevant in child development process. I believe at this stage is when a child comes to know why there exist two opposite sex within the society. It is a stage that creates awareness to the kid simply because wants to know and parents must give relevant information to the child. Evidence shows that child development stages are necessary because they give a clear outlook on how to behave. It is a stage used to prepare children for the future, (Bernstein, 2010).
Personally I like stage three of Freud’s child development because it helps a child learn about the body. Most people dislike the stage because they feel kids should not develop an attraction towards the opposite sex. They argue that kids may be psychologically affected but with proper counseling and education they should understand why they are created in that manner, (Bernstein, 2010).
