The Preschool, First and Second Language Advice
Teaching is a career that requires one to have the passion or a strong driving force towards the actual task. It takes enormous determination and awareness of how to fulfill this task. The teacher should interest the learners and influence them to have fun with English. Armature teachers should know that teaching is neither an easy task nor a too complex task, it all depends one’s attitude on the task. Being optimistic in teaching is one of the ways to reap success, since positive mentality promotes enjoyable activities leading to satisfaction. Young learners have lots of expectations in the subject they undertake; hence the educator should make a point of trying to meet at least half of these expectations. The teacher should also prepare his or her work plan to avoid teaching junk not necessary for the learners.
As an English teacher, determining the student’s language difference or disorder is imperative. This is because; the teacher is able to tell the child’s problem by assessing the disorder and the difference. Furthermore, teachers should know the distinction between language difference and language disorder. Language disorder gets identified by language or affected speech and sometimes both. Language disorder includes difficulty in understanding, receiving or creating information or ideas. On the other hand, speech disorder gets characterized by difficulty in producing sounds (stammering), interrupted fluency of speech, and differences in voice quality.
On identifying the difference, a language difference gets identified as a native language, different dialect or sometimes an additional language that results in a different production, pronunciation or formulation of language. This entire determinant should be put into consideration for determining the whether a child has language difference or language disorder.
