The Social Responsibility

(David, et al, 2008) Friedman in his statement spoke what was in minds of many entrepreneurs and businessmen. There have however been some pros and cons in this statement. Businessmen have the believe that they are in defense of free enterprise when claiming that business is not concerned only with the making of profit bust also with the promotion of the good social needs. This is to mean that businesses also have conscious of the society an that they should take their responsibilities seriously to provide employment, eliminate discrimination and also avoid pollution in whatever they do and everything else that may be inline with the reform agenda in the society. Most of them would be talking seen to preach socialism in their words. Business people speaking like this can be taken to be puppets in to the intellectual forces that have been seen to undermine the basis of a free society.

The talk about the social responsibilities of businesses is key due to been loose in term of analysis and they lack rigor. It is become tricky if someone says that a business has responsibility because in real sense it an individual who can be obligated with a certain responsibility. If corporations are taken as artificial people in the same sense they can be allocated some artificial responsibilities, but we can’t claim to have business responsibilities. The main and most critical step is to put into examination the principle of the social responsibility by asking in precision what it entails and to whom.

(David, et al, 2008) In real sense individuals who should take the responsibility are the businessmen; this means that the individual entrepreneurs or the executives for the corporations. Most talk’s debates about the responsibility to the society is directed to the corporations which means that the individual entrepreneurs are not considered but only the corporate executives.

In the free enterprise, systems of private property a corporate executives are taken as employees to the business owners. They have direct responsibility to their employees. Therefore their responsibility is to conduct the business in accordance with their desires. This desire will mostly be to make as much money as possible in conformation to the basic society rules.

(David, et al, 2008) It is essential to establish the impacts of ethical managerial behavior on the social capital development. Managerial behavior which is based on the genuine concern of the wellbeing employees and the ways to motivate them and to develop them ethically can assist in developing of social capital in any organization.

The behavior of the managers should be based on three doctrines: having a behavior that is exemplary; aiding the employees in appreciation of the effects of their actions for other people; not to betray the trust of the employees. When managers employ these principles they help the employees in developing means to associate and gain trust to be identified with the organization. These are the two main components to be components the social capital of an organization.

It is essential to bring ethics into the discussions on creation social capital because the social capital of an organization is most likely to be persuaded by the ethical and the motivational development of its members.

(Green environment business, 2011) There should be a defined focus to manage the sustainability issues at the operational level of any organization. They should think about environmental challenges together with the social issues such as the health care, alleviation of poverty and how to serve the society. Organizations should embark on increasing their competitive advantage while striving to do the right thing. This is in terms of saving the environment as well as creating strategies which are sustainable in their operations.
