In this semester, there are several assignments that I have completed in order to successfully pass UNIV 11. Over the course in this semester, there is a lot that I have learnt from my colleagues and also from my class work. One of the topics that I have completed includes a story about my personal life. This is a story that had happened some time back. From this experience in writing the story, I gained a lot of things about writing. Initially I thought I could never gain the courage to talk in front of other people or even write an essay that could be read and enjoyed by others. However, this is not the same as I have gained more knowledge from this course. It is never easy to associate with people when one does not have the courage of themselves. It is also sometimes difficult to understand how different people behave the reason for their behavior. After I had completed this assignment, there are several things that I had learnt.
This assignment provided me with the ability of expressing myself through writing. This is something that had never happened to me in the past. Therefore, I was glad to know that I could lay down what I felt in writing. These writings have helped me to understand how I link and sequence ideas. I have also been able to understand how language is helpful, in expressing feelings and opinions, in a topic. Through the assignments, I have been able to completely get involved in discussions, in the class, asking questions, and getting involved in class presentations. This is a course that has significantly helped me in improving my grammar and socializing with other people.
When completing my third topic about voting in America, this was one of the most amazing experiences I learnt. There are several things that I did not know about America. This is a course that has provided me with lots of knowledge not only for class purpose, but also general knowledge. This is a research that I needed to complete. Before this course, I had never done a research and wondered how I would complete one on my own. The course has helped me to understand how language features, vocabulary choices, and images. Doing a research involves several steps from understanding the problem that is to be investigated, collecting of data, analyzing the data and then presenting the results.
By completing this broad research, I got involved in the economic, social, and political background of American voting. In the past, I had never enjoyed learning history about something, but because this was a must to be completed assignment, I had to develop interest. From this research, I loved what I was doing and everything that is involved in voting. In this course, I have been involved in completing argumentative essays. I have seen myself improve from someone who never loved being involved in constructive arguments to someone who love argumentative discussions. Before taking any side in an argument, I have to ensure that I have enough points to support my position. I see myself as someone who has achieved more than enough from the course. The course has given me an opportunity to progress over time in my education. I have gained much skill like good communication skills, a creative person, and a critical thinker.
